My Word

I wanted to share my word for 2010. I have had "words" in the past without really asking for one, just leaning into the Lord, it would come. I recall a few years back, they (okay more than one word!) were, "be strong in the Lord" and "abide in my love". All year, the Spirit would remind me.

I had many opportunities that year to practice those things. And I grew in them.

This year, I kept hearing "trust". Well.......I hear that one alllll the time! But I think since I have been appointed as Woman's Ministry Leader in our church this year, it is quite appropriate. I am by no means qualified to pull together ladies, cast vision, organize, weed out, or whatever the Lord has planned...I praise Him he gave me a team. That I can count on a group of women to walk with me through the journey. I am excited. At times I feel afraid I wont __________. Did I mention we don't really have a current women's ministry? We have deaconesses who do visitation, and communion, and card sending. So we will be expanding. Somewhere...

As I sat with the Lord New Years Eve, these are the sub categories under trust that He gave me:
  1. Eliminates fear.
  2. Depends on love.
  3. Is aware of a strong Defender.
  4. Stands firm, fixed and immovable upon Truth.
  5. Praises in the storms and in the joys.
  6. Keeps eyes fixed on Jesus.
  7. Maintains composure in the face of disagreement or conflict.
  8. Knows dependence is on the Holy Spirit for everything.
If you feel inspired to pray, I would like to kiss thank you!

Here is my verse:
I will lead the blind (that is me!) by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; (a major relief that He will guide me!) I will turn darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. (I am thinkin' He might mean inside my heart :o) These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16

What is your word?

Love hearing your 'word'. I said a prayer for wisdom and trust as you step into your new thing! I am going to do a video I hope on my word this week. I love how God is so personal with all of us. Yes, He gives us our own word. I pray we all continue to hear and follow His voice. Walk in your word 24/7. Blessings, B

I love what God is doing with you in starting a women's ministry like this! I know you will TRUST Him and He will use you.

I think my word for this year is Change. Not the kind the gvt is offering either. It's the whole culture thing we have discussed.

Blessings my friend!

Kathy, I will pray. And I have full faith that the LORD will work through you as you TRUST Him in this new, exciting journey. What great words He has already spoken to your heart...leading you in this direction and assuring you of His presence. What an awesome God we serve!!

Still thinking/praying about a women's retreat or conference? We plan to meet this month to begin plans for our second annual Rise & Shine Retreat. :)

Just found your blog today from your comment on Edie's post. Enjoyed seeing your Bittersweet shop also.

Trust is a great word for the New Year and one that I could always improve on. I believe for me my word this year will be ACTION. I'm so good at reading about, hearing that small Holy Spirit's voice telling me to do this or that, dreaming about creating etc.. and often have good intentions but don't follow through. I'm going to post about it later today.

It's nice to meet you Kathy.

Kathy, writing your name and your request in my prayer journal. The Lord will guide you as you trust Him. I think of Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

The Lord gave me a verse again for this year. (He's been doing that for the past 10 years or so.) This year it is Romans 12:17, "Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable." The Lord is calling me to live honorably, that He may receive honor and glory.

Trust all is well with you. I'll be keeping you in my prayers,
Joy

Trust is one of the words God has made clear to me this year as well. Along with Peace and faithfulness. Looking forward to spending the year with you sorting it out with our Father!

I love your word trust. Mine is pretty much the same thing, believe. :)

I loved your list of subheadings and I especially love that God is calling you to women's ministry for such a time as this.

It's a special season for you, sister. I know you have much more to offer than you realize. Go light your world.

Hugs and love and congrats!

Kathy--I love your word. It was one of Wanda's--Trust and FAITH.

This year the Lord has given me several things to mull over---I don't know if I can claim one single word as "IT". Believe is one. Dream is another. Trust goes hand in hand.
SEEK ME---is a given.

I've heard Him speak to my heart before--and I continually seek what He would have of us.

You have much to do---but YOU are not alone---Your heavenly Father--is PREPARING the way.

I love you much!

Hi there.. thanks for visiting my blog. And I see you got yourself a beautiful background from Izzy! :) Good choice! I love your posts..very insightful and full of (His) wisdom. I too, was just asked to be the Women's Ministry Leader at my church and well, though I have some skills that I know would be good for this currently non-existant ministry, I feel also a little daunted knowing the undertaking of this task. But with His strength....

To answer your question, I just googled all of our names. Funny story about my son Eliel's name --- I saw it a few times in the Book of Chronicles, found (and liked its meaning) and then when we googled it further, discovered that a Puerto rican reggae artist by the same name. Reason why this was funny and perfect --- my husband is Jamaican and I am Puerto Rican! Have fun researching your names.

How much are you selling the tulle for? What color? I just opened an etsy shop and probably could use it myself!

Again, thanks for stopping by and I will visit often to be inspired and encouraged by your words!
